Thierry comes from a wine making family who are mentioned in official documents as far back as the 15th century, so he knows a thing or two about this part of the world. He makes wines with his brother as well, but this is one of his own, pet projects, a labour of wild, savage love made from fruit grown entirely naturally. He is known as the ‘king of unsulphured wines’ (how reassuring that this movement is now so strong that it has its own royalty!) and this wine is not only unsulphured but also unfiltered.

We stock his Cot (the local name for Malbec) as well and were frankly delighted when we tasted this more effete – but by no means ineffectual - sibling. With aromas of fresh hay, fruit cake, fresh grapes and spice, it has brilliant balance and edge with a lovely silky texture and great length. Make sure you don’t drink this too warm (nothing over 18 – 19 degrees celcius at the most) or you’ll miss out on some very good things.

Good with: Game birds, chicken, duck.
