It needs to snow a LOT. So that the only possible mode of transport is toboggan. By Kate.
I have not felt my feet for approximately 4 days now. It is possible they fell off on Wednesday and, thanks to the freezing cold induced numbness, I simply have not noticed.
The idea of a white Christmas is beyond exciting but I do wish it would then hurry up and snow properly. The really rather lack lustre dusting we had in London was simply not good enough. As I type this I can almost hear the howls of protest from fellow Londoners who lived through the snow induced shut down in February this year but, you know. That was FUN. We had over 10 snowmen, one 3 storeys high, on our street alone. It felt like living in the middle of a very white carnival.
I am doing many deliveries at the moment which always makes me bad tempered. I am not a naturally gifted delivery person. Traffic infuriates me. Humping boxes infuriates me. Looking for obscurely marked addresses in areas full of one way systems and impossibly narrow roads, brings on an emotional meltdown every time.
It is almost certainly for this reason too that I long for snow. So much snow that deliveries are impossible although of course in my fantasy, terrifically accommodating customers offer to toboggan in to pick up their wine themselves, so that we don’t lose out on the sale. Hugely environmentally friendly, for one thing.
Fabulous Fred has been in the shop today, slowly turning a fetching shade of blue as he is stationed near the door which, happily, has opened rather a lot. His range is tasting exceptional, as always, particularly the following :-

We have now sold all the magnums we had of the Le Fage cahors from Crosse-Maisonneuve, but we still the Vin Sin Num in that format. This is the quite extraordinary Grenache from very old vines made by natural wine guru Alain Castex.

Jude and I are both eyeing those up actually. Most of the Burgundy is also gone from our Finest of the Fine range, but the older Clarets are still relatively well represented.

The real gems are the remaining magnums though, so if you are inclined to buy something extra special, get the toboggan out and get down here without delay. Before Jude and I squirrel them away.
