And this time, finally, it is for good. By Kate
The sound of complete silence that has reverberated around this blog for a loooong time now is officially at an end. The event that we have all been holding our breath for (an eternity) has come to pass and this means that Green & Blue will survive and prosper and that, despite the preceding 6 years of wall to wall perdition, we have, ladies and gentlemen, officially broken through to the other side.
Now, it just might even become fun.
Our new investment is here and things are now going to happen. To start with it will be on-line and I have been made aware that I can no longer shirk my virtual reality commitments. Emily and Tomek very patiently spent time on Wednesday tutoring me in the ways of Twitter. Tomek is an expert and is doing his best to lead me down the paths of righteousness in a medium which I still, largely, entirely distrust.
Not without basis, if you ask me. In my first 30 minutes, the stream of inanities was a startlingly large flood although to be fair, there was indeed some good stuff. And, I learnt, some very bright, funny, clever people are making use of the medium. Hugely outweighed by those who are none of the above perhaps but not to an unmanageable degree.
Learning who to follow is clearly the answer and there are some we will be cutting ourselves off from very soon. To even think that your life is so fascinating that the world needs a minute by minute or hour by hour account immediately puts a person in a very sub-prime category and the quality of their missives more than reflects this.
Tomek has given me a series of rules and guidelines, one of which is that I must NEVER suggest that so and so go and do unspeakable things to themselves. He knows me. This is the kind of thing I will be itching to suggest on a daily basis.
I won’t though and now that things are easier and maybe even (yes really!) fun (see above), perhaps my bile will be naturally tempered anyway.
I hope so, because there is actually much to celebrate. We sell amazing wine and we do it to a lot of people we now know quite well and like enormously. We can, finally, concentrate on being even better at it and on fixing the aspects we are not so good at as well as finding new people to induct into the wonders of the natural wine world.
And while we are doing this, we will spread the word or just engaging news of the world via our website and the other forums.
Put like that, it sounds pretty alright actually. As long as standards, always, are maintained. Standards both of the quality of what we endorse and believe in passionately and of course in the way the word is delivered.
If I manage this, as a reward, I may occasionally allow myself the luxury of telling someone to go do something unspeakable. Tomek won’t be pleased but as we know all too well at Green & Blue; life is not a long quiet river.
You learn to go with it though and eventually, sometimes, it turns out not so bad.
