East Dulwich, We have a problem

Spot of bother in Lordship Lane, but it should all be over by next week. Spot of bother in Lordship Lane, but it should all be over by next week.

We may have decided that the dreadful saga of the drains is a thing of the past and that the brave new optimistic future is upon us, but apparently, the final tentacles of the monster have yet to die.  Anyone living in East Dulwich or who has been up and down Lordship Lane in the last few days will have noticed that we are again closed with a notice I cannot bring myself to repeat pasted on our doors.  We can’t really comment on this at the moment for legal reasons, but we should be open again in a few days.

Liz, or very own Deus ex Machina (amazingly handy having one of those – I highly recommend it, both for small business owners and indeed anyone with a challenging life), duly swooped in and again saved the day.  I suppose technically, we descended on her for a crisis summit on Friday morning and dreadful as the situation was, there was something amazingly comforting about trying to solve the problem around a kitchen table in the presence of two very small children.  Tom ended up playing croquet with Bea until she decided throwing sand at him was more amusing and Jude held Harry when he got bored of his high chair.  Harry is a very beautiful Buddha baby and as many of you know, Jude is a very hairy man but they made, oddly, a very fetching pair. Thank you also to all our incredible customers who have sent such supportive emails and posted such encouraging things on the web as well as being so understanding about bookings etc.  Unfortunately, everything is inside, so we have no access to our bookings book or indeed any other information which might enable us to contact people.  Please rest assured that anyone who did have a booking will be compensated with free meals and that in the event we are not open for School of Wine and the tasting on Tuesday (although we hope to be), you will be refunded or moved to the same event on a different day. Deep breath and onwards and upwards.

One day, I will no longer have to post blogs which relate to various disasters. One day.
